Get the IIT-factor in you

Cracking IIT and also the strategies required to crack IIT is a buzz among all the students who have dreamed to be an engineer. Since the competition is becoming tougher day-by-day students need to know the correct strategies regarding IIT entrance exams.

Competing in the entrance exam for IIT is in itself an achievement for the students since the exam pattern is tough, and in addition to it, the syllabus for each one of the three core subjects, viz.Maths,Physics and chemistry are tougher. The students keep bothering about how to manage all these.

We have seen many students who are always so much involved with their text books but still unfortunately could not make it up to the entrance level. There could well be many reasons behind each one but the main reason is that though they have full command over the subjects, they lack the basic strategies required at the time of examination.

Online Coaching Is Better To Concentrate in Preparations

Online coaching is meant to make the student study at home and concentrate in complete silence. This is evident that the student has to pull himself off the distractions to gain time for concentrated studies. This makes them score high and increases the confidence level for studies.

Online coaching is one of the best methods to concentrate in engineering entrance exams. This is because this method enables one to one coaching. There is one lecturer who delivers lectures through CDs and Internet and one student who listens to each and word with absolute concentration.

Most family members never disturb their children in their preparations, but they are always concerned for the welfare of their child. Therefore, they provide completely tension-free environment to their teens for better studies.

The time spent in traveling to and from some coaching Institute can be utilized in studying or relaxing to study later. The students get less tired and better fit for studies.
Online coaching is comparatively much cheaper to regular coaching Institutes, while the quality of studies remain the same. This makes online coaching far superior to obtain admission in engineering entrance.

What is it all about?

Most students aspiring for the IIT's have typical questions. In the following section, the most common questions are answered.

1. What is IIT-JEE?
It is the Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) conducted by the IIT's for their admissions. The IIT-JEE is considered to be one the toughest entrance exams in the world.

2. What does the IIT-JEE lay emphasis on?
The IIT-JEE is an entirely problem-solving examination that emphasises on the application of the fundamental concepts in each of the subjects – physics, chemistry and mathematics. These application-oriented skills have long term implication for a student entering big business in the knowledge-driven world.

3. What is the process followed in setting the JEE question papers?
The questions are framed to test the knowledge understanding (comprehension) and analytical approach in each subject. The IIT JEE paper is unique in the sense that questions once asked are never repeated. A student, therefore, by solving previous years’ papers acquires an experience in problem-solving, but can never expect a repeat. Most questions test the skills, application levels and problem solving capability of a student.

4. How prepared does one need to be to get through?
A new candidate taking up the IIT JEE must be strong in fundamental concepts and their application to numerical problems. This is acquired by rigorous practice of solving hundreds of problems.

5. How difficult is the JEE? And what makes it difficult?
The difficulty in getting through JEE lies in obtaining a merit rank within the top 8,200 or so, to qualify for admission to IIT's. The performance of a candidate is assessed comparatively among the numerous competitors.
This year about 3 lakh students took this examination and the seats offered were about 8200. Compared to 2007, 70,000 more students took this exam in 2008. The acceptance level is about 2 %.

6. Does one need additional support to prepare for the JEE?
Though the syllabus prescribed for IIT-JEE is of 12th standard level, it is not possible for a student to attempt a direct appearance, on the basis of his school course of study for the board exam. The problems of IIT-JEE are numerical and require the application of either a single concept or the combination of two or more concepts. These skills can be acquired only through an additional support program of study – one that is offered by persons with vast exposure, high level of pedagogical skills and very high commitment.

7. How much value do support programs add?
These additional support programs enable the students to acquire an effective knowledge of the various problems of the IIT model, thereby giving a strong foundation to the students' fundamentals. The knowledge of concepts and problem solving are interdependent. Each helps the other to arrive at a better understanding.

8. Is there a best way to prepare for the IIT-JEE?
An aspirant must be hard-working, determined and optimistic in his endeavour to tackle IIT-JEE with the help of the additional support program. Above all, he or she requires a fierce determination and competitiveness to succeed and come out on top.

9. Is there a right balance between conceptual inputs and problem solving that is optimal for a student to get the best value from the program?
As explained earlier, the understanding of concepts and the solving of problems are interdependent. The more the practice of solving problems, the better is the understanding of concepts and vice-versa.
